Ally Piepho
Dear Ally,
It would be easy for me to ramble off how dear you were to me, click "publish," then give myself a righteous pat on the back for socially appropriate. But that would be contemptuous of me, to assume we held some sort of friendship bond when in actuality.. we didn't.
I can't sob out how much I'll miss you as a friend because we weren't friends. I did not know you on that deep of a level and you did not know me that well either. If I were to write an elegy of your life, you would have reason to call it out as bullshit.
So here's how I'll remember you: how I actually knew you.
I knew just one of your faces as I shared a class with you freshman year and sat next to you junior year. You were intelligent, helpful, and friendly. We shared nice small-talk and you saved my ass in physics.
So thank you. Thank you for existing.
Should fate have it, it'd be nice to get to know you more in the next life. Because people are saying pretty nice things about you. Some of it may be true and some of it might be exaggerated for your benefit, but I'd like to form my own opinion.
Until then, rest in peace.
